My Rejaw Review, Somewhat

August 21, 2008

The new buzz on FriendFeed is a site called Rejaw. Maybe it’s me but just the title of the site seems to be a bit odd to say. Sounds like a word you say after a headshot. Like “j00 g0tz r3j4w’D” or some shit like that. I’m not very keen with the big and uncrisp font. So far, I was able to fix that with AdBlock. In short, it’s basically a Twitter clone. Think of Twitter and FrendFeed if they were to combine. Actually, Rejaw is more like a FriendFeed clone since you can embed and talk in conversations.

So, just what the fuck is the big hoopla? Hell, I still don’t know. People say that Leo Laporte has lead the way to making Rejaw the new Twitter. You mean like how Identi.ca was going to be the new Twitter? Or Plurk? Even FriendFeed was called the new Twitter when Twitter started fucking up shit. People, before you claim some new site a new anything just remember that there will be another site that will be better than the last one.

The only thing I’m doing with mines is posting swear words.
I’m still new on FriendFeed. Unlike the Titanic, I’m not jumping ship. Plus I can’t swim.
So, what’s my verdict? It’s ok. Nothing about it is grand enough to make me leave my Twitter and it sure as hell not any better than Twitter. So, go and join it if you want. That’s why God made “close account”.

What’s In YourSpace?

June 9, 2008

I’m sitting here just wondering “What might make a social network site better or how to improve one?” and a few things have struck me. I’m doing this on the fly so, bare with me.

*Intergrade Twitter: Now, when I say “Twitter”, I don’t mean just Twitter. That includes FriendFeed, Jakiu, Pownce, and whatever other like sites there are. Since these are getting more and more popular, it would make sense to add them internally than adding a widget.
*No Apps!: I hate all apps. Facebook started that shit and it’s nothing but spam enhancers. Now MySpace started making apps (a complete ripoff from Facebook) and… well, it’s just stupid.
*Don’t Go Pro: I’m sure some people would pay for a pro account that will add extra features but, why not just push them out out of love of your community?
*Spam Control: Easier said than done in most cases. There has to be more than doing CATCHPA’s or making the CATCHPA more stronger. Tho, CATCHPAs that are in the login page are also good.
*No Privacy: Why do you bother to join a social community if you’re going to make yourself private? If you have something to hide, you might want to not be on the internet at all. That’s more of an “iPetPeeve” of mines.

I’m sure there’s more I’m forgetting but thi sis the list for now.

Twitter Vs. Pownce

May 6, 2008

Everyone is on the new iCrack that is called Twitter. I assume people use Pownce. So, what is the difference in the two?

Twitter is described as a “micro-blog”, status update, and a social network. Think of as a MySpace/Facebook minus all the crap.
Pownce is almost the same except you get options to upload files, post an image, and share an event on their calendar. Both sites are free except (I saw that coming), Pownce has a pro account feature. As far as I can tell, Pownce’s pro account only lets you customize your page with CSS. Are they serious?

My judgement: Twitter wins this one. Fuck a “pro” account to just use CSS.

Twitter Is The New iCrack

April 28, 2008

hey Twitterites! do you follow people because they are popular, you need people to follow you, or you’re really interested in others doings?

That quote is from my Twitter I posted. I don’t expect anyone to reply but, I do wonder just how do people use their Twitter.

Most people I’ve seen use it to send updates like blog entries, project statuses and mini reviews.
Others actually micro-blog and use it almost as a 140 character IM.

Twitter is really neet to use either way.
So, how do you Twit?

WP Minor Changes

April 15, 2008

I have to say, even tho WordPress.com is giving people free blog accounts (and who don’t like free shit?), I have to protest a couple of “demands”, if you want to call them that.

1. Google AdSense – Yes, this is a free service but I do question why can’t we add some Google ads. Everyone does want to make a little something, right?
2. External Codes – Ok, you can post videos and images but what can’t we embed other external scripts like Twitter, Pownce, and FriendFeed? It’s like WP is saying “Hmm… these are features people use alot but FUCK THE PEOPLE!”. In a nice way, of course.

That’s all I have to say about that.
